Example Personal Injury matter, Reibman v. State Farm, a motor vehicle crash case in IL. Its case clock runs from the Date of Incident, Aug 18, 2025, to the statute date, Aug 18, 2027. The matter moves from day 318 in Presuit Negotiations to day 403 in Settlement / Verdict, and 3 tasks proposed, awaiting approval.

01 · IntakeDay 0–2

The statute clock starts before the case does.

Leads come in from your web forms, an AI voice agent that answers the intake line, or the answering service you already use, and each one is scored on six factors. Send the retainer through DocuSign. When you convert, Legasus previews the starter tasks and computes the statute date from the incident date, so you check it before anything is created.

How Legasus 3.0 reasons

Demands from your own templates

Upload your firm's demand and counter-demand templates once. Legasus fills them from the matter: client, incident, providers, insurance, and dates. Your attorney edits and sends.

04 · SettlementDay 403

From gross to client net, line by line.

Enter the settlement and your fee percentage. Legasus works out the attorney fee, nets out case costs and the liens owed, and shows the client's share before a dollar moves.

  • Fee from your percentage

Set the Total Fee Percentage on the settlement (33 1/3 by default). The attorney fee is calculated from each settlement amount, with co-counsel splits when you have them.

  • Costs and liens netted

Case costs come from the settlement record and lien payoffs from the Liens tab, so the client net matches the file.

  • Posted to trust

Post the settlement to your IOLTA trust account. Legasus creates the contingency fee invoice and a disbursement checklist with one line per payee type.

  • A second approval for large payouts

Trust disbursements above your firm's threshold wait for a second approver before they post.

05 · FAQAny day

Personal injury case management, answered.

What Legasus does for a PI matter today, and where your team stays in charge.

  • What personal injury cases does Legasus support?

Every case runs as a Personal Injury matter with one of 18 injury types: Motor Vehicle Crash, Commercial Vehicle Crash, Motorcycle Crash, Bicycle Crash, Pedestrian Incident, Slip and Fall, Premise Liability, Dog Bite, Defective Product, DRAM Shop, Medical Malpractice, Dental Malpractice, Wrongful Death, Railroad / FELA, Civil Rights Violation, Police Injury, Camp Lejeune, and Unknown. The matter has 13 PI tabs, from the intake form and medical providers to liens, litigation, and settlements.

  • How does Legasus track the statute of limitations?

Each PI matter has an SOL Due date, and the SOL Watch dashboard widget lists matters as their dates approach. When you convert a lead, Legasus can compute the date from the incident date using a state rule. Rules for Illinois, California, New York, Texas, and Florida come preloaded (730 or 1,095 days), and your firm can add its own. The preview shows the rule it used so an attorney can verify the date before the matter is created.

  • Can we track medical providers, bills, and liens?

Yes. Each provider records treatment dates, treatment status (Actively Treating, Treatment Complete, or Unrelated to Claim), the amount billed, the amount owed, a 1/3 reduction, and the amount due at settlement, plus whether records and bills were ordered and received. Liens record the amount, the 1/3 lien reduction, the amount owed, and whether the notice and final lien were received. Legasus tracks treatment by provider, not by individual visit.

  • Does Legasus write demand letters?

Legasus fills your firm's own demand and counter-demand templates with the matter's details, and the Legasus Assistant can draft a letter for an attorney to review and edit. It does not assemble or send a demand package on its own.

  • How are the attorney fee and the client's net calculated?

The attorney fee is the settlement amount times your Total Fee Percentage (33 1/3 by default), with co-counsel splits if you use them. The client net is the gross settlement minus the attorney fee, case costs, and the liens owed. When you post the settlement to your trust account, Legasus creates the fee invoice and a disbursement checklist for fees, lien payoffs, cost recovery, and the client's share.

  • Does the AI make decisions on a case?

No. A Panel analysis gives the attorney a written review of liability, medical causation, damages and liens, and settlement scenarios, and it labels what the record shows versus what it infers. Tasks and calendar entries the AI suggests wait for someone to approve them. Judgment calls stay with your team.

  • Can clients sign the retainer electronically?

Yes, through DocuSign. Connect your firm's DocuSign account, choose your retainer template, and send it from the lead. Legasus tracks whether it was sent, opened, signed, declined, or expired.

  • Does it handle wrongful death and probate?

Yes. Wrongful Death is one of the 18 injury types, and PI matters include a Probate tab and an Opening Probate phase, so the estate work sits in the same file as the injury case.
