The stamps decide the date.
Every entry and exit sits on the matter's history with where it came from: a passport stamp, an I-94, a client's own account. Legasus pairs them into trips, counts the days abroad, flags any trip over six months, and works out the earliest day she can file. Whether residence was broken is still your attorney's call.

02 · Dates
Every date shows its math. None of them moves on its own.
Dates arrive from notices, court records, and the rules behind them, each with its basis and citation. A date stays a candidate until an attorney checks it against the source. Confirm it and the task and calendar entry appear. If the source changes later, the confirmed date holds, and someone is asked to look again.

Agency notices
The response date printed on the notice, entered when it arrives. RFE windows aren't computed; the notice decides.
Court records
Filing deadlines set at a hearing, court-set relief deadlines, and deadlines recorded on motions.
Rules
Asylum one-year filing, the I-751 window, BIA appeals at 30 days, motions to reconsider at 30 and reopen at 90, and the earliest naturalization date. Each shows its citation.
Expirations
Status, I-94, work permit, travel document, passport, and prevailing wage dates recorded on the matter.
Age-out review
A derivative child's 21st birthday, raised for review. Whether protection applies is the attorney's call.
A weekend due date rolls to Monday. Federal holidays aren't modeled, so the attorney checks them when confirming.
Reminders arrive in Legasus for the assignee and responsible attorney at 60, 30, 14, 7, 3, 1, and 0 days, with an extra nudge for any unconfirmed date due within two weeks.

Ready means ready.
A package shows its blockers until each one clears: forms reviewed, editions checked against your firm's verified list, evidence accepted, translations certified, signatures in, fees ready, and a final sign-off. Once it's filed, the receipt lives on the agency track, and if nobody has checked it in 45 days, Legasus says so.

04 · Restricted
Some facts need fewer eyes.
Asylum claims, criminal history, and identity numbers aren't for everyone on a matter. Mark it restricted and those records open only to admins, the responsible attorney, and the people you name. Identity numbers stay masked, revealing one is logged, and reminders for restricted matters carry no case details.

The Humanitarian Claim page, criminal history, encounters, the issue matrix, and SSNs.
Who can open it
Firm admins and the responsible attorney always can. Anyone else needs to be on the matter's access list, and every change to that list is audited.
Identity numbers
A-Numbers, passport numbers, and SSNs show their last four digits. Revealing one is logged, and so is opening a restricted page.
Reminders and documents
Reminders for a restricted matter carry no case details, and document templates never pull restricted records.

What Legasus does for an immigration practice, and where it stops.
01What kinds of immigration matters can we run in Legasus?
Nine categories and 51 matter types: family-based petitions, adjustment, and consular processing; employment-based work such as H-1B, L-1, O-1, PERM, and I-140; naturalization; asylum and other humanitarian matters; removal defense, bond, motions, and BIA appeals; extensions, changes of status, work permits, and travel documents; consular visas; and appeals. VAWA, U, T, TPS, N-600, and AAO matters open on the general pages for now.
02Which pages does an immigration matter get?
Seven pages come with every matter: Overview & Intake, People & Relationships, Immigration History, Case Plan & Eligibility, Forms & Filings, Evidence, and Status, Notices & Appointments. Six more (Family & Sponsorship, Employment & Position, Consular / NVC, Humanitarian Claim, Court & Removal, and Citizenship & Naturalization) appear when the matter type or the setup answers call for them. You can show or hide them later, and hiding a page never deletes its data.
03Does Legasus calculate immigration deadlines?
It proposes them. Dates come from the notices you record, court records, and rule calculations such as the asylum one-year date, the I-751 filing window, BIA appeals, motions to reopen or reconsider, and the earliest naturalization filing date. Each one shows its basis and citation and stays unconfirmed until an attorney checks it against the source. RFE and NOID response dates come from the notice itself, and federal holidays aren't modeled.
04Does Legasus check USCIS case status automatically?
No. Each agency track holds its receipt number and the status you record from the notice or the agency's site. If a track hasn't been checked in 45 days, Legasus raises a reminder to look.
05How does Legasus handle travel history for naturalization?
Entries and exits on the Immigration History page are paired into trips. The residence worksheet counts days abroad and days present in the period, flags any trip over six months or over a year, and shows the earliest filing date with its math. It never concludes that residence was broken or that a client is eligible; that stays with the attorney.
06Can we restrict asylum and other sensitive records?
Yes. Mark a matter restricted and its humanitarian, criminal-history, encounter, and issue-matrix records, plus SSNs, open only to firm admins, the responsible attorney, and the people on its access list. Identity numbers show their last four digits, and revealing one or opening a restricted page is logged.
07Does Legasus fill out or file government forms?
No. Forms & Filings tracks each form in a package with its edition, signatures, and fees, and shows what still blocks the package from being ready to file. Preparing and submitting the forms themselves happens outside Legasus.
08What reminders does the team get for immigration dates?
In-app reminders go to the assignee and the responsible attorney at 60, 30, 14, 7, 3, 1, and 0 days before a deadline, for up to a week after it passes, and for any unconfirmed date due within two weeks. Hearings and interviews get a heads-up a week out, the day before, and the day of. Reminders for restricted matters leave out the case details.
