01 · Matter types
Ten matter types. One workspace.
Choose the matter type when you open a case, and Legasus lays out the pages that practice needs. The core pages are the same on every matter, so no one has to relearn the system between cases.
Personal injury matters
Treatment, insurance, liens, and damages each get their own page, with litigation pages ready if the case is filed.

04 · Questions
What firms ask before they switch.
Straight answers about matter types, phases, and the audit trail.
Q-01What is legal case management software?
It's one place for everything about a matter: its pages, people, dates, notes, and history. Instead of piecing a case together from email, spreadsheets, and shared folders, your team opens the matter and finds it all there. Legasus builds that workspace around the type of matter you're handling.
Q-02Which practice areas does Legasus support?
Legasus has four built-in matter types with their own pages: personal injury, workers' compensation, litigation, and real estate. Matters from other practices, such as family, employment, or estate work, open under the closest type and keep their original practice area as a tag. Every matter gets the same core pages: Activity, Project Details, Finances, Contacts, Calendar, and AI.
Q-03Do all matters follow the same phases?
Yes. Every matter type shares one list of 17 phases, from New Lead to Archived, so anyone at the firm can read a case's status the same way. You move a matter to whichever phase fits; it doesn't have to pass through every step. Real estate matters show Presuit Negotiations as Due Diligence.
Q-04Who can be assigned to a matter?
Each matter has a primary attorney and a primary paralegal. Clients, adjusters, opposing counsel, and other people are stored as contacts, linked to every matter they're involved in, each with a role on that matter.
Q-05What does the audit trail record?
The matter's audit trail records changes such as phase updates, with the person who made the change and the time. You can export it as CSV, JSON, or PDF when a client, carrier, or court asks for a record.
Q-06How do I find a matter quickly?
Search works across every matter, contact, and note. The matter list can also be filtered by matter type, phase, paralegal, and tag, so a paralegal can pull up every litigation matter in Discovery in a couple of clicks.
Q-07What happens when a matter closes?
Move it to Archived. It leaves the working list so your team's view stays focused on open cases, and its pages, contacts, activity, and audit trail stay searchable.
Q-08Can I bring matters over from my current system?
Talk to us about it on your demo call. We'll look at where your matters live today and walk you through what moving them would involve before you commit to anything.
