Legasus

Personal injury firms · Plaintiff practice

Personal injury law firm software for the whole caseload.

Every lead in one queue, every stalled retainer flagged, every case by phase, and every settlement posted to trust. Legasus runs the firm's PI operation, not just one file.

An example Personal Injury Overview for a plaintiff firm: the Lead Queue with new, qualified, and converted leads, 11 open Recovery alerts, 128 active cases in the Case Pipeline, and 3 cases on SOL Watch in the next 90 days. One lead converts as the page loads.
01 · Intake9 statuses

Every lead, one queue, routed by rule.

Leads from your web forms, the built-in phone agent, or the answering service you already use land in one Lead Queue. Assignment rules route each lead to the right person, and every lead is scored on six factors with a written explanation.

Example Lead Queue with 8 personal injury leads. Three new leads arrive and assignment rules route them: Dana Whitfield (Score · High), Rosa Delgado (Language · Spanish), Marcus Bell (Source · Form).
  • One queue for every channel

Web forms, the built-in phone agent, referrals, and leads your team adds by hand all land as complete lead records. Firms that already use an answering service like Smith.ai can connect it instead.

  • Assignment rules

Route leads by practice area, score, source, or the caller's language. Test the rules before turning them on.

  • Six-factor scoring

Liability, damages, fit, urgency, responsiveness, and documentation, each scored with a written explanation. Your team decides which cases to take.

  • 18 injury types

Crash, premises, product, malpractice, and wrongful death intake each ask their own follow-up questions.

How intake works
02 · Recovery5 alert types

Find the cases slipping through.

Legasus flags leads with no owner, follow-ups that are past due, retainers still unsigned, high-value leads that have gone quiet, and dormant leads worth another call. Work them one at a time or resolve a batch from one screen.

Recovery

Open alerts across the firm6

Try it: select a few alerts and resolve them together.

Immediate action

1Critical follow-ups overdue right now.

Unsigned retainers

2Retainer sent but not signed.

Waiting on client

1Lower-severity follow-ups still pending.

Unassigned high-value

1No owner has been claimed.

Stalled / dormant

  2. Sent
  3. Opened
  4. Signed
  5. Declined
  6. Expired
  • Every alert explains itself

Each alert shows its type, severity, how long it has been open, and why it fired, so whoever picks it up knows what to do next.

  • Resolve in bulk

Resolve an alert on its own with a note for the file, or select the ones your team has handled and resolve them together.

03 · Caseload17 phases

The whole caseload, by phase.

See how many cases sit in each phase, who carries them, and which statutes run out in the next 90 days. When a case changes phase, Legasus proposes that phase's tasks for someone to approve.

Example Personal Injury Overview dashboard. Case Pipeline: New Lead 11, Initiate 9, Investigating 14, Treating 38, Treatment Completed 17, Presuit Negotiations 15, Litigation 12, Mediation / Negotiation 7, Settlement / Verdict 5. • Phase changes propose the next tasks

Move a case to Litigation or Settlement / Verdict and that phase's task templates wait for approval. Nothing is added silently.

Every settlement, lien, and trust posting in one ledger.

Fees follow each case's Total Fee Percentage. Client net is the gross minus the fee, case costs, and liens owed. Settlements post to your IOLTA trust account with a fee invoice and a disbursement checklist, and Outstanding Liens shows what the firm still owes across every case.

05 · FAQ8 answers

Personal injury law firm software, answered.

What Legasus does for a plaintiff firm today, and where your team stays in charge.

  • What does Legasus do for a personal injury law firm?

Legasus runs a plaintiff firm's operation in one place. New leads land in a single Lead Queue, Recovery flags unsigned retainers and leads that have gone quiet, the Personal Injury Overview shows every case by phase with SOL Watch and outstanding liens, and settlements post to your IOLTA trust account with a disbursement checklist. Each case is a Personal Injury matter with its own providers, liens, insurance, and settlement records.

  • How do new personal injury leads come in?

Leads arrive from your website forms, from Legasus's built-in phone agent, as referrals, or when your team adds them by hand, and each one lands in the Lead Queue as a complete lead record. If your firm already uses an answering service such as Smith.ai, you can connect it so its calls create leads automatically.

  • How are leads assigned to intake staff?

Assignment rules match each lead on practice area, score, source, or the caller's preferred language and assign an owner or team. You can test the rules before turning them on, and a lead with no owner raises an Unassigned lead alert in Recovery.

  • Does the AI decide which cases we take?

No. Each lead gets a score from 0 to 100 built from six factors: liability, damages, fit, urgency, responsiveness, and documentation. It comes with strengths, concerns, and a written explanation of how it ranked. Your intake team and attorneys decide which cases to accept, refer, or reject.

  • What happens to unsigned retainers and stalled leads?

Recovery raises five kinds of alerts: unassigned lead, overdue follow-up, unsigned retainer, stalled high-value lead, and promising dormant lead. They're grouped as Immediate action, Unsigned retainers, Waiting on client, Unassigned high-value, and Stalled / dormant. Your team can resolve alerts one at a time or select several and resolve them together. Retainers sent through DocuSign report Sent, Opened, Signed, Declined, or Expired automatically.

  • Can partners see the whole caseload at once?

Yes. The Personal Injury Overview dashboard shows the Case Pipeline by phase, Cases by Attorney, SOL Watch for statutes running out in the next 90 days, Outstanding Liens, the Settlement Pipeline, and Recent Settlements. Intake analytics show conversion by lead source.

  • How are settlements, liens, and trust handled?

The attorney fee comes from each case's Total Fee Percentage. The client net is the gross settlement minus the fee, case costs, and liens owed. When you post a settlement to your IOLTA trust account, Legasus creates the contingency fee invoice and a disbursement checklist for fees, lien payoffs, cost recovery, and the client's share. Outstanding Liens shows the total the firm still owes across every case.

  • Does it handle wrongful death and probate?

Yes. Wrongful Death is one of the 18 injury types, and its intake asks about probate. Personal Injury matters include a Probate tab for heirs, the executor or administrator, assets, court filing, publication and claims, and the wrongful death or survival suit, with testate and intestate estates both supported.
