Legasus

Client portal

A client portal that shares on purpose.

Clients call because they can't see their case. Legasus gives each one a secure link to their matter, and only what you publish shows up there: where things stand, the documents you pick, and the invoice with a way to pay it.

Example matter: the firm's record for Reibman v. State Farm with its private notes and memos blacked out, beside the client's view, which shows only the phase, a status note, two shared documents, and an invoice.

01 · The invite

No passwords. One link to their matter.

Invite a client from the matter and they get an email from your firm's own mailbox. The link opens their matter and nothing else. It expires on the schedule you set, and it stops working the moment you revoke it.

An invite email from Reyes & Okafor LLP with an Open secure link button and an expiry date, beside the matter's access list: one client active, one invited, one revoked.
  • Sent from your mailbox

The invite goes out from the mailbox your firm already connected, so it lands looking like you. No mailbox yet? Copy the link and send it yourself.

  • Expires on its own

Links last seven days unless your firm picks another window, anywhere from one day to ninety. Resending retires the old link.

  • Revoke in one click

Wrong address, or a relationship that changed? Revoke access and the link is dead on the next click.

02 · What clients see

You decide what the client sees, one matter at a time.

Write the update the way you'd say it on the phone, pick the documents, and choose whether invoices show. Status and documents stay hidden until someone at the firm turns them on, so a strategy memo never slips out because it sat in the same folder.

03 · The firm's side

The firm keeps the whole picture.

One page shows who has access, who hasn't opened their invite, and which invoices a client can still pay. Each matter carries a timeline of the emails, intake calls, and notes behind it. That timeline stays with your team. Clients still reach you by phone or email.

The firm's Portal page: counts of active access, pending invites, and unpaid portal invoices; a recent access table; and a matter's communications timeline marked as never shown to clients.

04 · Payments

Send the invoice. Get paid from the same link.

Every unpaid invoice has a pay link. The client sees the line items and what's still due, pays by card through secure checkout, and the firm confirms the charge. A trust balance can be shared too, as a figure to look at, never money to move.

  • Line items, not a mystery PDF

The client sees each line, the total, and the balance still due, under your firm's name.

  • Card checkout

Payment runs through Stripe checkout once your firm has online payments set up. Paid invoices say so.

  • Trust balance, view only

Share a matter's trust balance as a read-only figure. Disbursements stay inside Legasus.

05 · Questions

Client portal questions, answered.

What clients can see, how they get in, and where the portal stops.

01What can clients see in the Legasus client portal?

Only what your firm publishes for that matter: a phase label and status note written for the client, the documents you mark client visible, and invoices if you turn them on. Internal notes, email, intake records, and every other document stay inside the firm.

02How do clients sign in?

With a secure link emailed from your firm. There is no password to set or forget. Links expire after seven days unless your firm chooses a different window, from one to ninety days. Sending a new invite retires the old link, and you can revoke access at any time.

03Can clients message us through the portal?

No. The portal is not a chat window, and clients keep reaching you by phone or email. Inside Legasus, each matter shows your team a timeline of its email, intake calls, and notes, so the context is there when they do.

04Can clients upload documents to the portal?

No. Documents go one way, from your firm to the client, and only the ones you mark client visible.

05Can clients pay invoices online?

Yes. Any sent invoice with a balance has a pay link. The client sees the line items and balance due and pays by card through Stripe checkout once your firm has online payments set up. The firm confirms the charge, and paid invoices show as paid.

06Can clients see their trust balance?

Yes, if you share it. A trust balance link shows the matter's balance as a view-only figure. Nothing can be disbursed from it.

07Do clients see our internal case phases?

No. You write a client-safe phase label, such as Discovery instead of your internal stage name, and a status note in plain language. Your internal phases and notes are never shown.

08Is portal access recorded?

Yes. Invites, revoked access, and changes to what a matter publishes are recorded with who made them and when.

Give clients the update before they ask.
